VSB3-70 section bending machine leaves the factory for GVB Infra

A VSB3-70 variable geometry section bending machine has left the SweBend factory on its way to GVB Infra, the operator that maintains Amsterdam’s tram and metro infrastructure. The machine will bend the larger rail sections for track renewal across the network.

The VSB3-70 was uprated for this application. Both drive torque and rolling speed have been increased, so that even the heaviest rail profiles roll easily and at high speed. As always on our VSB machines, all three rolls are driven by infinitely variable hydraulic motors and planetary gear boxes, with automatic speed compensation, at up to 12 m/min.

Full-size hydraulic guide rolls work in all three axes and are integrated parts of the side roll units. Move the side roll to adjust the bending distance and the guide rolls follow automatically, so they stay in perfect position to support the profile through the entire rolling process.

Control is by a SEVEN X Gold CNC with external IRMA radius measuring units, which read and adjust the rolling radius automatically.

The machine was sold through J. Venema Bv, SweBend’s partner for the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
